A Preview of "The Compost Pile As A Model of Career Success and Happiness"
Career ladders are out. Compost piles are in. Come find out why. Leave with a new and refreshing view of career success and how to achieve it. Historically, the ladder has stood as a metaphor for career success. Why? Because ladders let you climb, one rung at a time, to the heights you aspire to achieve. But ladders have problems. They're unstable. They're dangerous. There's only room for one person at a time on a ladder. And of course ladders also have a long-standing association with bad luck. The compost pile offers a much more robust model, a model adapted to changing times and to the new millennium. It is a model of growth, of sharing, of happiness. It is a way of understanding career success in organic terms – where the accumulation of your life's (decomposed) experiences provides a broad and fertile base on which to cultivate and accumulate new and ever more valuable experiences. Come hear poignant stories of career growth, death, decay and rebirth. Add to your pile.
Chapter Meeting Presentations
As a means of helping chapter and local community members who are certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP®) satisfy the continuing education requirements for re-certification, PMI Metrolina Chapter arranges its monthly meeting schedule to allow a 1 hour PDU training session to be incorporated into its normal meeting.
Topics presented during these sessions are designed to not only satisfy the PDU requirement for re-certifying as a PMP, but to also provide wide appeal to people involved in project management regardless of whether or not they are certified PMPs. The 1-hour sessions meet the educational requirements to qualify for 1 PDU credits for maintaining PMP® certification or to meet the requirement for attending 35 hours of formal project management education prior to applying to sit for the PMP® exam.
The sessions are open to all.
