Networking & Social Media Presentation Prior the Chapter Meeting
Using LinkedIn & Twitter For Your Job Search
More
and more companies and recruiters are using social media sites to find
and hire candidates. However, Harry Joiner, an executive recruiter,
stated finding great talent today is like finding a needle in a stack
of needles. With an average of 200 applications being received for
each job, creating profiles on social media sites such as LinkedIn and
Twitter can help increase your visibility in the marketplace and make
connections to help you land your next job.
Prior to the August
Chapter meeting, there will be a presentation to assist you with
understanding how to leverage these tools during your job search.
During the presentation, you will get an overview of some key features
that are available in LinkedIn and Twitter.
1. An overview of the on-line social networking sites
2. The basic concepts of how LinkedIn & Twitter work
3. Building your profile
4. Growing your network (including the pro's/con's of open networks)
5. Finding and connecting with key contacts are your target companies
6. Finding job opportunities
This presentation is being delivered by Rich Sauser,
a member of the PMI Metrolina Social Networking project team. Rich
founded The Public You to provide training on social networking sites
and how to leverage them for recruiting and the job search. Rich was recently highlighted in the Charlotte Observer: http://www.charlotteobserver.com/business/story/876558.html
The
presentation will begin promptly at 5:15pm on August 18th. If you have
